30 James Street Wedding Photography | Lydia & Marianna

A fabulous September day it was when I shot the 30 James Street Wedding Photography for Lydia & Marianna.

I received a message on Facebook from an old school friend, Joe, who I had not seen in nearly 30 years asking if I was free to shoot a wedding. ‘Yeah sure, what date and where?’. Well, when he told me it was going to be a same-sex wedding in October in Liverpool, of course, I said ‘yes!’. My home town, my first same-sex wedding and I get to see an old school friend too after all these years and wow what a wedding this was and what a venue too!

LIVERPOOL CITY CENTER WEDDING VENUE

Situated in the heart of Liverpool city centre opposite the famous Albert Dock and Three Graces, 30 James Street is a cut above the rest. A stunning wedding venue within a fabulous and historic building, 30 James Street is the home of the Titanic. Also known as Albion House or the White Star Building, it is a Grade II* listed building and was constructed between 1896 and 1898. The iconic building is positioned in the heart of Liverpool on the corner of James Street, facing the city’s World Heritage Site, including the Pier Head and the Three Graces.

In 1934, 30 James Street closed as the head office of the merged Cunard White Star Line and remained untouched despite its history and reputation as one of the city’s most iconic structures.

The White Star Grand Hall is the perfect backdrop for any wedding. The White Star Grand Hall is the gem of this historic building, previously the ticketing hall and first-class lounge for passengers of the White Star Shipping Company grand space which features decadent 15-foot Georgian windows, originally restored ceilings and beautiful chandeliers. With its own bar and seating for up to 210 people, The White Star Grand Hall is the perfect place to get married.

With views of the Three Graces, Mann Island and the Albert Dock, 30 James Street and The White Star Grand Hall is the idyllic venue to host the most memorable day of your life.

“His relaxing nature and natural talent was the perfect combination for our relaxed, city centre wedding. Nick moved through the day capturing our moments and it was so easy to forget we were getting our photo taken – letting us really bask in the moment!”

As a Liverpool wedding photographer, I started the day shooting bridal prep with Lydia and the occasional shot with Marianna. The rooms with large windows just oozing natural light. Once Lydia was in her dress we were ready for her first look with Marianna, a beautiful and emotional moment.

Then it was down to the Grand Hall for an absolutely stunning ceremony with both Lydia & Marianna being escorted down the aisle, the looks on their mother’s faces were amazing. With such large windows, vast amounts of natural light the room was just a pleasure to shoot in. On completion of the ceremony, we had one group shot with everybody in the Hall and one under the archway to the hotel. As usual, the group shots are created in a very relaxed manner. For the meal, a very nice afternoon tea was followed with an amazing but emotional speech from Lydia and then it was into the evening reception!

If your reading this and not chosen a Liverpool wedding photographer or a Liverpool wedding venue yet I seriously consider you to take a look at 30 James Street! Anyway, here’s a few images from the day. Enjoy!!

It was fantastic to photograph Lydia & Marianna’s wedding at 30 James St. I hope you like the images as much as I do.
