Literally, just a couple of miles from where I live is Doddington Hall, a fabulous wedding venue in Lincolnshire and a great place to be a Doddington Hall Wedding Photographer. Emma & Ethan managed to get a cancelled date and jumped on the offer to have their wedding at such a fabulous venue.
It turned out to be an amazingly, sunny and very hot day. Emma was staying at Doddington the night before her wedding in one of the holiday homes which can be rented out. It was there where the day started for bridal prep.
Once everybody was ready it was then just a 5-minute walk to the coach house gardens for a fabulous ceremony and then into the private grounds of the Hall for group photos and a little walk around the gardens for their couple only images, all of which are not posed.
It was then back to the Coach House for an amazing reception and some of the best food I have tasted during a wedding. After some great speeches, it was all about getting ready for the evening. Here’s a few images from their amazing day!
“Nick was exactly what we were looking for. Blended into the background and gave us the most amazing candid photos for our wedding. Could not have asked for anyone more professional and experienced!”

Bridal Prep
A tip for getting the best bridal preparation photos is to choose an uncluttered location with as much natural light as possible. Having a nice clean space makes it easy for your photographer and other suppliers to work and natural light is so much better than tungsten lighting for instance…why? Other forms of lighting can create awful colour casts on images. I like to capture bridal prep at least two hours before your ceremony, capturing the final stages of hair and makeup along with details and natural photos. There are lots of amazing moments at bridal preparation that will be treasured forever. Doddington Hall is a great place to start the day off with amazing pictures.
Doddington Hall Wedding Ceremony
There are a few locations you can choose from to have your ceremony at Doddington Hall. Emma and Ethan chose to have an outdoor ceremony in the Coach House Walled Garden and why not it was such a beautiful sunny day.
NATURAL IMAGES
During the drinks reception, there are always lots of opportunities to capture natural photos of the guests having fun. As a Doddington Hall Wedding Photographer these are some of the moments which our couples treasure the most. The walled garden at Doddington or even the Hall itself is a fantastic location to capture natural photos and formal group portraits too. When it comes to group photos I try and get these done as quickly as possible because who wants to be stood around all day waiting to have their photo taken?
BRIDE & GROOM PORTRAITS
Choosing to have your wedding at Doddington Hall gives you about 45 minutes of private time around the gardens away from the public. There are many locations for photographs the way I work is just getting the couple to go for a walk around and just be yourselves, literally 10 minutes.
Wedding Reception
Wedding receptions at Doddington Hall are held in The Coach House. It is light, airy, fresh and modern but with a stunning Elizabethan exterior, the Coach House is a wonderfully private and comfortable location with a beautiful secluded garden. An amazing place for your meal and speeches.
