Kat & Stephan contacted me about their wedding and as a military wedding photographer I was excited to hear it would be held at RMA Sandhurst due to Stephan being an Army Officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps. As a former Royal Marine it would be great to be back amongst serving military personnel at a venue I had not worked at previously.
ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY SANDHURST
If you were unaware The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) is where all officers in the British Army are trained to take on the responsibility of leading their soldiers. Commonly known simply as Sandhurst, it’s one of several military academies of the United Kingdom and is the British Army’s initial officer training centre located in the town of Sandhurst, Berkshire, though its ceremonial entrance is in Camberley, Surrey, southwest of London.
A truly iconic venue to host your wedding if you are fortunate enough to get married here. With historic buildings such as the Old College with its amazing steps, the Memorial Chapel, a large famous parade ground and impressive grounds including beautiful lakes it is a simply stunning venue to host a memorable wedding.
The day started with Kat getting ready at the Aviator Hotel in Farnborough with friends, family, and Stephans’ family members. After about an hour of bridal prep, it was a 15-minute drive to Sandhurst to capture a few images of Stephan with friends and best man before heading back to the Aviator Hotel to capture Kat just after getting into her dress.
The ceremony took place at the Memorial Chapel on the grounds of RMA Sandhurst. It was a good job I was able to drive to the chapel from the gate as it would probably be a good 20-30 minute walk otherwise.
After a beautiful ceremony, it was then outside to capture all the colourful guests and a Military Guard of Honour provided by Stephan’s colleagues.
On completion of a few group photos on the steps of the Old College, it was then back to Robertson House, for the reception, a long walk for some. Not long after Kat and Stephan went for a 10-minute walk together as I followed for their couple images.
During the evening the first dance was actually like a flash mob as Kat is a dancer and a brilliant dance display was given to Stephan as he sat in a chair and watched until he was dragged up by Kat.
Anyway here’s a few images from Kat & Stéphans amazing day!
